Bengaluru Central City Intensifies Footpath Encroachment Clearance Drive

Bengaluru Central City Corporation continued its special footpath encroachment clearance drive on July 4, 2026, completing the fourth day of operations across six Assembly constituencies. The drive covered 13 km of footpaths on eight roads to improve pedestrian safety and ensure obstruction-free movement. Authorities removed unauthorized structures, pushcarts, advertisements, and construction debris with support from multiple departments.

Key Details:

• 13 km of encroached footpaths were cleared across 8 roads on the fourth day of the drive.

• The operation was conducted in Shanthinagar, C.V. Raman Nagar, Chickpet, Chamrajapet, Gandhinagar, and Shivajinagar constituencies.

• A total of 43 petty shops, 38 pushcarts, 92 temporary sheets, 67 ramps/staircases, 4 sheds, and 41 advertisement boards were removed.

• Around 63 tonnes of construction and other waste were cleared during the operation.

• The drive deployed 100 workers, 8 JCBs, 23 tractors, and 5 tippers.

• The campaign is being carried out under the directions of Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Jagadeesh G.

• Officials stated that the clearance drive will continue to improve pedestrian accessibility and ensure safer public spaces across the corporation limits.
