5 Properties Auctioned for Property Tax Recovery Across North and East City Corporations

Approximately 7,000 properties with unpaid Property Tax dues amounting to ₹437 Crores have been initiated for auction under the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act 2024 after repeated notices and recovery efforts failed. Auction proceedings began on 21 February 2026, with initial sales completed in North and East City Corporations.

Key Details:

• Approximately 7,000 properties collectively owe around ₹437 Crores in unpaid Property Tax.

• Demand notices were issued to defaulters.

• Follow-up actions included:

SMS alerts

• IVRS calls

• Local revenue follow-up visits

• Attachment orders were served for continued non-payment.

• After more than 60 days post-attachment, properties were listed for auction as a last resort.

• Action taken under provisions of the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024.

• Auctions were conducted by Joint Commissioners of respective Zones on 21 February 2026.
