Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) officials have directed that all ongoing flood mitigation works be completed within one month in view of the ongoing monsoon season. FECC Special Commissioner Sushma Godbole reviewed multiple flood-prone locations within the Bengaluru North City Corporation area and instructed officials to expedite pending works to prevent waterlogging and flooding.

  • A project is underway to raise the retaining wall of a 900-metre-long, 6-metre-wide stormwater drain between Doddabommasandra Lake and Tatanagar.
  • Officials were instructed to complete the work at the earliest.

Hebbal Lake Wetland Project

  • Development works are underway across 192 acres of Hebbal Lake.
  • The project is being implemented at a cost of ₹15.90 crore.
  • Wetland creation, inlet development and other lake improvement works are in progress.
  • Directions were issued for early completion of all pending works.

Manyata Tech Park Area

  • Long-standing flooding issues near Manyata Tech Park were reviewed.
  • Construction of two man-made canals extending 1.2 km from Veeranapalya to the Hebbal Valley is in progress.
  • An 800-metre RCC retaining wall has already been completed.
  • Remaining RCC works have been directed to be completed without delay.

Nagawara Lake Development

  • Development works are being undertaken across 96 acres of Nagawara Lake at a cost of ₹15.90 crore.
  • Works include:

Desilting

  • Inlet and outlet improvements
  • Bund development
  • Walking pathway construction
  • Wetland development
  • Island creation
  • Officials have been instructed to complete all works by the end of June 2026.

Monsoon Preparedness

  • Flood mitigation projects being implemented under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund have been directed to accelerate.
  • Officials were instructed to ensure completion within the prescribed timelines to safeguard public safety during the monsoon season.
